Bishop Frank Caggiano '77 Appointed Fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport

At noon, Vatican City time on Wednesday July 31, Pope Francis announced the appointment of Auxiliary Bishop Frank Caggiano of Brooklyn, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ class of 1977, as bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Bishop Caggiano was born on Easter Sunday in Brooklyn, New York in 1959. He entered Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as a freshman in the Fall of 1973. After graduating from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, Caggiano earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Cathedral College, a master of divinity from Immaculate Conception Seminary, and a licentiate and doctorate in theology from the Gregorian University, Rome. He was ordained a priest for the Brooklyn Diocese in 1987, named a papal chaplain with the title Monsignor in 2003, and named an auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn in 2006.
