Animated Performances at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Repertory's Production of The Odd Couple

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Repertory focused their efforts this spring on producing the highly amusing and highly energetic Neil Simon play, The Odd Couple. Auditions began immediately after the New Year, with rehearsals lasting ten weeks thereafter. The cast developed great chemistry throughout their preparations, and the show formally opened for audiences March 19-21.

The Odd Couple is a classic American comedy authored by Neil Simon and premiered on Broadway in 1965. The play features Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak newswriter who is thrown out by his wife, and moves in with his friend Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter. In his last Â鶹ÊÓƵ Repertory performance, senior Justin Sansone ’15 provided a finished performance as the compulsive and neurotic Felix. The normally-taciturn junior Nicholas Catapano ’16 provided a lively performance as the slovenly, sardonic and boisterous Oscar. Both Justin and Nick developed the necessary rapport needed to highlight the differences between the two characters.
The male cast was rounded out by Â鶹ÊÓƵ Repertory veterans Peter Wrobleski ’15 (Roy) and Nicolas Ortiz ’16 (Murray), and first-time performers Vincent D’Avanzo ’17 (Vinnie) and Nicholas Cimaszewski ’17 (Speed). The two female parts were ably handled by Marymount’s Sophie Rizzieri (Gwendolyn) and Aisling McDonagh (Cecily).
