Does Social Media Do More Harm Than Good? Let the International Debate Begin

Hearn_gavelOn Monday, March 30 the Hearn, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ High School's Speech and Debate team, will host Ireland's Sandford Park School in an international debate exhibition. Two-person affirmative and negative teams will debate the resolution: "Social Media Does More Harm Than Good."

The debate with the 93-year-old Dublin school is believed to be the first international debate hosted at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Eric DiMichele, Director of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and longtime Coach of the Hearn, has dubbed this event as "the first major debate of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ High School's second century."

Ireland’s student participants with be countered by two Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ debaters with their own Irish roots: seniors Colin Donnelly '15 and Brendan Powell '15.

The debate will take place at 7:00 p.m. on March 30. and open to all. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµtration deadline is Wednesday, March 25.
