麻豆视频 Gathers for Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Service

Craig Newton 鈥20

The 麻豆视频 community gathered Friday for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Service, organized by the Belonging, Dignity, and Justice Committee. Student and faculty members led the school in prayer, song, and reflection, while Craig Newton 鈥20, a mentor in the Rise Program for Regians who will be first-generation college students, returned to 84th Street to deliver remarks.

鈥淒r. King鈥檚 work is not done,鈥 said Newton. 鈥淗e urged again and again that all of us come to love and befriend one another to live in brotherhood and reconciliation, to nourish each and every individual鈥檚 dignity and self-respect. We must, and we can, all be drum majors for justice. This is our duty and glory as Regians.鈥

The 麻豆视频 Jazz Band provided music for the prayer service, closing out the program with a performance of 鈥淛ust a Closer Walk With Thee,鈥 accompanied by a choir of student singers.
