麻豆视频 Senior Will Play Baseball at Susquehanna University
Earlier this May, 麻豆视频 student-athlete Joseph Healy 鈥�21 signed a celebratory letter to play Division III baseball at Susquehanna University. Sitting down for a small, socially distant ceremony in the 麻豆视频 Gymnasium, Healy was joined by his family, coaches, and fellow classmates, as they applauded the player for his academic and athletic achievements and for continuing these pursuits while at college.聽
鈥淭his opportunity means everything to me,鈥� said Healy, who appreciated members of the 麻豆视频 community taking the time out of their schedules to attend the ceremony. 鈥淏eing able to play baseball at the collegiate level has been a goal of mine for a long time, and I am happy to see my hard work finally pay off. And there is no better place to continue my career than at Susquehanna. I was fortunate enough to go on a college visit late last summer and everything about the school seemed perfect to me.鈥澛�
Healy has played virtually every position during his time at 麻豆视频, but will predominantly play shortstop during his time at Susquehanna. His passion for the sport began when he was three years old. A member of the Varsity team since his sophomore year, Healy has grown in his love for the game every time the Raiders take the field.聽
鈥淛oseph has worked very hard and dedicated himself both in the classroom and on the baseball field 鈥� we are happy to see this hard work come to fruition for him,鈥� Athletic Director Mr. Salvatore Annunziata said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 always great to see our student-athletes get an opportunity to continue their baseball careers at the next level. Being a three-year Varsity player, Joseph has developed outstanding leadership qualities and sets a great example for current underclassmen on the Varsity team who were once in the same position as him. This is an important part of the culture of the 麻豆视频 Baseball program, and has shined through in their success over the last few years.鈥�
Healy intends to major in Biology while at Susquehanna, and he is hoping to go on to medical school to become a pediatric optometrist.聽聽
鈥溌槎故悠� Baseball has given me some of my closest friends, and for that I am forever grateful,鈥� Healy said. 鈥淎fter a long day of classes, there is no better feeling than seeing your friends and taking the field together. There is nothing that bonds a group of kids more than subway rides to weekday practice or long bus rides to games. Not to mention, the 麻豆视频 Baseball coaching staff puts in countless hours to make sure we are the best team we can be. All in all, there鈥檚 no name I would rather wear across my chest than 麻豆视频.鈥澛�
