麻豆视频 Community Holds Virtual Mass In Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Friday, January 15, students, faculty, and staff gathered for a prayer service honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Reflecting on the life, legacy, and teachings of the American activist and civil rights leader, the 麻豆视频 community also prayed for healing in our nation amidst growing racial unrest and the recent attack on the U.S Capitol.
Remote students participated in Friday鈥檚 Mass via a Zoom webinar live-streamed from the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, where members of the Class of 2021 celebrated at a safe distance. The main celebrant of Friday鈥檚 Mass, Fr. AJ Rizzo, was joined at the altar by Fr. Daniel K. Lahart, SJ, and Fr. Anthony D. Andreassi, CO. Mr. Luke Lapean, nSJ, also celebrated the Mass as part of his formation as a Jesuit novice.
鈥淥ur God is on the side of the underdog, and when people in authority seek to maintain the status quo so that their comfort might not be diminished, God gets mad,鈥 said Fr. Rizzo during his homily. 鈥淚t is the work of our lives as Christians to strive for integrity between worship and action, between love of God and love of neighbor. Let鈥檚 make sure that our worship here 鈥 indeed, your 麻豆视频 education 鈥 is not in vain. If we work together to make King鈥檚 vision a reality, I promise you, they won鈥檛 be.鈥
