麻豆视频 Holds 2019 Graduation Exercises
Filled with enthusiasm and gratitude, the 127 members of the Class of 2019 received their 麻豆视频 High School diplomas on Saturday, June 1 at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola.
Rev. Daniel K. Lahart, SJ, the president of 麻豆视频, thanked the graduates and said how proud he was of their hard work, grit, and care for one another and the world around them.
鈥淚t is with full confidence that we send you off to change the world, to set the world on fire,鈥 Fr. Lahart said. 鈥淵our spirit has already touched us and remains with us, and we are grateful.鈥
In his remarks, Jacob Kaiserman 鈥19, chosen to speak by his classmates, referred to a New York Times in which legendary writer and former 麻豆视频 student Pete Hamill said, 鈥淓ven now, as old as I am, I have this secret Jesuit [on] my shoulder.鈥 Kaiserman told his fellow graduates he was confident that they would hold onto the lessons and values they had learned at 麻豆视频 through the Jesuits on their shoulders.
鈥淎nd maybe it鈥檚 not a Jesuit. Maybe your conscience articulates differently than mine,鈥 Kaiserman said. 鈥淏ut I have no doubt that your conscience and mine have learned to speak the same language. One of charity, of justice, and of action. To continue daring despite dark skies, we must stay faithful to the people we鈥檝e become here on 84th Street.鈥
A full transcript of Kaiserman鈥檚 speech is available.
Congratulations to the 102nd graduating class of 麻豆视频 High School!
